I think 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for One Piece fans! Just this past week, we got a ton of exciting news about what’s coming for the Straw Hat Pirates. Netflix announced season three is on the way, plus a new LEGO animated special and a sneak peek at the The One Piece remake from Wit Studio. And it wasn’t just Netflix – Toei Animation also revealed some big casting changes for the ongoing anime series. Apparently, two important pirate characters are getting new voice actors as the story heads into the Elbaph arc, which sounds like it’s going to be massive.
The popular anime One Piece has announced new voice actors for two key characters. Beckman, from the Shanks Pirates, will now be voiced by Shinichiro Miki (known for roles in My Hero Academia and Bleach), replacing Aruno Tahara. Similarly, Laffitte of the Blackbeard Pirates will be voiced by Daisuke Kishio (Dragon Ball, Digimon), taking over from Taiki Matsuno. With both Shanks and Blackbeard expected to play significant roles in the final arc of the series, this cast change could be important for fans.
One Piece’s Final Saga
Both the One Piece manga and anime have brought Luffy and his crew to the land of the giants, a place fans have heard about for a long time. While Usopp is excited to see some familiar giant characters, a major threat that’s been brewing for years has also arrived. Though Eiichiro Oda hasn’t announced a release date for the next chapter, this battle on Elbaph is shaping up to be one of the series’ most important, and could lead directly to the manga’s ending.
Neither Shanks nor Blackbeard has faced Luffy in battle yet. Given their history, Shanks likely wouldn’t fight Luffy, but Blackbeard is a different story. Blackbeard has been quietly building his power throughout the series, always aiming to become the Pirate King. With his dangerous Devil Fruit powers and willingness to do anything to win, he’ll be a major threat in the final part of One Piece. Both Shanks and Blackbeard have powerful crew members – Beckman and Laffitte – who, while not as strong as their captains, will likely play important roles before the manga ends.
