One Piece May Have Just Confirmed Its True Final Villain

As a spectator, I’m witnessing the unfolding of the Elbaf Island lore in One Piece, a long-awaited arc that was teased to fans over two decades ago. Surprisingly, it’s not just meeting expectations but might even be surpassing them. With the series nearing its final act, many anticipated Elbaf as a crucial milestone for resolving lingering enigmas. So far, it’s been delivering on that promise, unveiling Shanks’ twin brother and verifying his lineage while, through the mural reveal, possibly suggesting how the One Piece story might ultimately end. Although more secrets are expected to unfold, the series hasn’t yet revealed who will be Luffy’s final adversary.

Based on the unveiling of the mural and Imu’s significant role in the current storyline, as well as their existence since Joyboy’s time, it seems plausible to speculate they could be the final antagonist. Nevertheless, there’s another formidable candidate who has consistently been Luffy’s greatest adversary. Although this character has been at odds with him from the start, the recent disclosure that Rocks D. Xebec is Blackbeard’s father might suggest that Blackbeard could be the true final adversary Luffy will confront.

With the Revelation of Rocks D. Xebec, One Piece May Have Confirmed Its True Final Villain

In Chapter 1154 of One Piece, titled “Unkillable,” we finally get the much-anticipated unveiling of Rocks D. Xebec. To add to the surprise, it’s revealed that he is the father of Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard. This discovery solidifies the theory about Blackbeard’s ties with Rocks, and the newfound father-son relationship underscores the similarity even more. The enigmatic goal of Blackbeard, referred to as “The World,” echoes his father’s aspiration to rule the world, hinting that he is treading a familiar path. Meanwhile, Luffy, often seen as Gol D. Roger’s successor, especially post-time-skip, persists in emulating Roger. This suggests that Blackbeard could potentially be Rocks’ heir, setting him up as the final adversary for Luffy, much like how Rocks was for Roger.

It’s quite evident that there’s a striking similarity here. Just as Blackbeard is often depicted as one of the final villains in the narrative, he could potentially become Luffy’s ultimate adversary, much like how Roger battled Rocks. This theory gains strength from Koby’s developing character arc. Given his growing resemblance to Monkey D. Garp, who was a crucial ally to Roger in his fight against Rocks, Koby might fulfill a similar role in the final showdown. This implies that while Imu and the World Government will continue to pose significant threats, Blackbeard could be Luffy’s true final adversary. If this turns out to be the case, the story might end with a contemporary reenactment of the Roger-Garp alliance, with Luffy and Koby teaming up to defeat Blackbeard in the grand finale of One Piece.
