The newest chapter of One Piece unexpectedly suggests that the Straw Hat crew might gain two new members soon. The Straw Hats are the heart of the story, and their group has been expanding throughout their journey. Jinbe was the last official addition, but several characters have been floated as potential recruits. While fans are eager to see Vivi, Yamato, or even Carrot join, the current storyline involving Elbaph has introduced another possible candidate.
The potential new crew member is Loki, the prince of Elbaph, who Luffy personally invited to join. Although he initially refused for good reason, Loki has become more popular with fans lately. And it seems he might not be coming aboard alone. Chapter 1170 of One Piece, titled “Contrary,” shows that Loki’s hammer, Ragnir, is actually a living creature with its own thoughts, hinting that Ragnir could also join the Straw Hat crew.
One Piece Chapter 1170 Brings a Surprise Additional Candidate Alongside Loki

In One Piece Chapter 1170, Loki gets angry when Ragnir stops him from eating a Devil Fruit and tries to hit it with a hammer. The blow causes a visible bump on Ragnir, showing that the hammer is actually connected to a living, squirrel-like creature. The series has featured weapons with living parts before – Lasso being a prime example – but Ragnir’s ability to bruise, think for itself, and show feelings proves it’s a living being, though how it came to be this way is still unknown.
Okay, so I’ve been thinking – with Loki potentially joining the Straw Hats, I really think we might see Ragnir come along too! Chopper already proved that Luffy’s crew is totally open to accepting unique members as true companions, and honestly, Ragnir is just as endearing, especially in its hybrid form – it’s practically a little Chopper! But it’s not just that; fans are starting to notice some other cool connections that suggest Ragnir could actually play a pretty important role on the ship. I’m seriously hoping to see it happen!

Fans are buzzing about a possible connection between a recent image in One Piece and Usopp’s future. Chapter 1081 included a color spread showing Usopp asleep next to a squirrel, and squirrels have been highlighted in the artwork since then. This has led to speculation that Usopp might eventually wield the legendary axe, Ragnir, helping him achieve his dream of becoming a brave warrior. The island of Elbaph is widely believed to be important to Usopp’s story, as it’s been suggested he’ll fulfill his ambition there. Some fans now think Chapter 1170 subtly hints that both Loki and Ragnir could join the Straw Hat crew, potentially giving Usopp the means to finally reach his goal.
