The most recent chapter of One Piece might finally be setting the stage for Usopp to achieve his lifelong dream. Since the story entered the Elbaph arc, fans have been anticipating that Usopp, more than any other Straw Hat crew member, would get a chance to fulfill his ambition. With One Piece now in its final stretch, it’s time the series started making those dreams a reality – they’re central to the story and provide the emotional core of the characters’ journey. Usopp’s goal of becoming a fearless warrior of the sea, combined with his respect for giants and desire to be like them, suggested that the Elbaph arc would be where we finally see his dream begin to come true.
So far, it hasn’t seemed likely that Usopp would get the chance to achieve his dream. The discovery of Adam Trees all over the island actually pointed towards Franky being the one to succeed first. However, the newest chapter of One Piece, Chapter 1170, titled “Contrary,” revealed something unexpected that could now set the stage for Usopp to fulfill his dream on Elbaph and even become a national hero.
One Piece Chapter 1170 Might Have Laid the Foundation for Usopp to Fulfill His Dream

A recent development in One Piece chapter 1170 showed that Ragnir isn’t just a weapon, but a living creature with squirrel-like qualities. This has led fans to speculate about who will be able to use it, and many are pointing to a past illustration from chapter 1081. That illustration features Usopp sleeping next to a prominently displayed squirrel-like animal. Because the author, Eiichiro Oda, is known for carefully planning things far in advance, many fans now believe Usopp will ultimately be the one to wield this powerful weapon.
With the upcoming battle in Elbaph potentially becoming incredibly dangerous, there’s a growing possibility that Usopp might end up using the powerful weapon Ragnir. If the fight against the Holy Knights and Imu goes badly, even Loki and his allies could be overwhelmed. This could create the opening Usopp needs, especially since Ragnir seems to have a mind of its own, allowing him to strike a critical blow and change the course of the battle.
Giving Usopp the weapon Ragnir would be a logical move, reminiscent of how his surprising contribution during the Dressrosa arc earned him the nickname “God.” Wielding Ragnir would be a significant step towards Usopp finally becoming the brave warrior he aspires to be, potentially even making him a hero to the people of Elbaph. Plus, if Loki joins the crew as well, the connection between Usopp and Ragnir could become a running joke throughout the series. This would be a satisfying way for Usopp to achieve his dream in One Piece. If this doesn’t happen, the author, Oda, will need to explain why soon, as the story seems to be heading towards the end of the Elbaph arc.
