The Elbaf arc in One Piece becomes more thrilling with each new chapter, unveiling Loki’s unexpectedly ominous past and finally disclosing the elusive Rocks D. Xebec. Each flashback is raising the stakes, making it seem like the series is nearing the conclusion of its ten-year narrative and fitting together the various plot elements that have been revealed over time. Particularly intriguing is the character Rocks D. Xebec, who has emerged as a significant piece in this puzzle by being revealed as Blackbeard’s father and an inspiration for Loki.
In the recently released chapter of “One Piece,” Xebec has not disclosed much about himself yet, but his presence in the flashback has sparked numerous theories, especially concerning his potential powers and skills. A popular fan theory that’s been gaining momentum suggests Rocks could have been the previous wielder of the Op-Op fruit, which is now held by Trafalgar D. Water Law. Clues in Chapter 1154 of “One Piece” seem to support this idea, with Rocks making a gesture that resembles something familiar to observant fans.
Rocks D. Xebec May Have Had the Op-Op Fruit Before Law
The initial clue that made people think Rocks might have the Op-Op Fruit is because at the end of Chapter 1154, Rocks is depicted raising two fingers while questioning Loki, a gesture similar to Law’s Shambles ability. Additionally, before Rocks appears, the manga shows a mountain being cut off at its peak, which could be linked to the Op-Op Fruit’s powers. However, it should be noted that Rocks raises two fingers as he poses two questions, so another possible explanation is that he’s simply indicating two queries.
In the same chapter, readers discover that eight years ago at Reverie, Rocks had slain an Admiral and escaped. The abilities of the Op-Op Fruit could account for how Rocks effortlessly fled the crime scene, as well as boosting the fruit’s reputation and the World Government’s interest in acquiring it due to its rumored immortality properties. This is particularly relevant given the recent disclosure that Imu can bestow immortality upon the Five Elders and the Holy Knights effortlessly.
In essence, the discovery that Rocks possessed the Op-Op Fruit raises an intriguing speculation: Could it be that Rocks transferred his spirit into Blackbeard? This concept of Blackbeard harboring multiple personas has been a widely debated theory since Luffy met him at Mock Town, using the plural pronoun “they” in reference to him. However, replacing the original adversary with an old one like Blackbeard instead of a new one might seem a bit monotonous; yet, the world of One Piece is known for its ability to keep things fresh and exciting.
One Piece is available to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
