The “One Piece” manga is currently at a pivotal point, as Harald’s background reveals significant details about the legendary Rocks Pirates. Through this, we discover how Rocks D. Xebec transformed into a wanted outlaw by murdering an Admiral in the sacred land of Mariejois during the Reverie. He then embarked on a voyage, amassing many allies through participation in the traditional pirate competition, the Davy Back Fight. Later, he established a pirate crew that dominated the seas during Roger’s most influential period. Not only did Rocks leave an indelible mark in history as one of the most infamous pirates to have ever existed, but even his crew members like Edward Newgate, Shiki, Kaido, Big Mom, and others gained widespread notoriety in the New World.
Before the Elbaf Arc, most fans were barely acquainted with the Rocks Pirates, but now we’re finally getting to follow their grand voyage. During the God Valley Incident, Rocks D. Xebec had an ambitious objective against Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger that left a significant mark in history. Though the lore hasn’t connected him to the Straw Hat Pirates’ chef yet, both parties share a distinctive commonality.
One Piece’s Heart-Eyes Quirk Doesn’t Only Belong to Sanji
A particular pirate group garnered quite a bit of fame approximately four decades ago, apart from the Rocks Pirates. The Kuja Pirates, an exclusively female crew hailing from Amazon Lily, were renowned for their power, beauty, and captivating allure during that era. While Gloriossa led this group, Shakuyaku served as her second-in-command, and she, the upcoming Pirate Empress, was the epitome of attraction across the New World. Her charm left no one untouched; neither men nor women could resist her allure.
It’s worth noting that the Roger Pirates went out of their way to engage in battles with the Kuja Pirates solely for her recruitment. Unsurprisingly, they were quickly overpowered and had their loot taken. In Chapter 1157, Shakuyaku established a bar within the Hachinosu stronghold, the home base of the Rocks Pirates. Without much effort on her part, she managed to win them over, even earning the admiration of Rocks, Newgate, and others, who seemed smitten with her. This discussion brings us back to Sanji’s joke, which has often been a topic of debate.
The storyline worsened after the time-jump due to the anime’s slow pace that focused too much on Sanji’s infatuation with women, overshadowing his character development. However, it appears that the author is now trying to alter Sanji’s image in a subtle way by portraying other iconic characters similarly, as seen in the manga.
