One Piece’s Elbaph Arc Finally Explains One of Its Oldest Mysteries

Please be aware that this article reveals major plot points from the One Piece manga! The long-awaited Elbaph Arc has finished its flashback, bringing us back to familiar characters. Soon after the Straw Hat Pirates landed on the island, the Holy Knights infiltrated and took the children hostage. Shamrock Figarland correctly guessed that taking the children hostage would be the quickest way to force the Giants to surrender, and so far, the plan is succeeding. Even though Scopper Gaban could have easily defeated all the Holy Knights himself, he was forced to surrender when his son’s life was threatened.

Being down in the underworld with Loki, we were getting updates from Chopper and immediately wanted to jump into the action! Just as everything was about to explode into a massive battle, the story took a pause to show us Harald’s life. It was a really heartbreaking journey, detailing everything he tried to do to create a brighter future, and how it all tragically fell apart. But right at the end of his story, Imu dropped a huge bombshell – seriously, one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece yet!

One Piece’s Imu Reveals The Meaning Behind The “D”

Imu intended to control the Giants using Harald, and they would have succeeded if Loki hadn’t intervened. Harald possessed the blood of the ancient Giants and was incredibly powerful – comparable to Rocks D. Xebec. Imu enhanced his abilities and granted him immortality, though at a great personal cost. Loki was the only one who could potentially defeat Harald, but he only managed to do so after obtaining the famed power of Elbaph.

Imu was deeply shaken by Harald’s death, appearing physically weakened by the news. They spoke of the Giants’ inherent warrior spirit, claiming their lineage craves conflict. Imu also criticized Harald, stating that a king who rejected his heritage and pursued peace ultimately failed to achieve anything worthwhile.

The enigmatic leader who understands the world’s hidden past knows that their people and the Giants can’t peacefully coexist, because of something called the ‘D.’ Throughout the story, characters with the letter ‘D’ in their name have been incredibly important. While the ruler, Imu, doesn’t explain this connection, it shows that the history of Elbaph and the long-lost Void Century are much more connected than anyone realized.
