The newest chapter of One Piece may have revealed the series’ strongest character, and they could hold that title until the very end. Power levels are always a big topic in One Piece, and Luffy’s Gear Five ability really changed things by introducing powers that defy the existing rules. Because Luffy can now create almost anything he imagines, it was going to be hard for anyone to surpass him. But with the story heading towards its conclusion, fans expected to see some incredibly powerful new characters appear.
The story’s focus on villains was anticipated, especially with the introduction of the God’s Knights and the Five Elders. It became clear these villains were designed to push the heroes to become more powerful. Meanwhile, the arc involving the giants of Elbaph established them as a formidable warrior race, hinting at powerful new characters, with Loki being the most promising. He always seemed different due to his unique lineage, but recent reveals have only amplified his strength. The latest developments suggest Loki’s power level is immense, potentially making him a truly difficult opponent—even for Luffy.
Loki Might Just Be the New Strongest Character in the Entire One Piece Franchise

Loki isn’t just incredibly powerful – he’s one of the largest beings ever seen in the One Piece world, and he possesses Ragnir, potentially the strongest weapon around. This weapon is special because it’s powered by a Devil Fruit and can only be used by Loki, making him even more formidable. We also learned that Loki ate a legendary Devil Fruit that had been hidden on Elbaph for centuries – a fruit so powerful the World Government wanted it, suggesting abilities unlike anything else.
The newest chapter of One Piece finally explains Loki’s powers, strongly suggesting they are among the most powerful in the series. Chapter 1174, titled “The Strongest Thing in the World,” reveals that Loki’s Devil Fruit is a Mythical Zoan, allowing him to transform into a massive dragon – the largest transformation seen so far. The chapter’s focus on being “The Strongest Thing” heavily implies Loki’s transformed state is a major force, and could be crucial in the fight against the World Government.
Although it’s not yet clear what this new form means, fans believe the dragon creature shown in Harley’s mural might be connected. A close look reveals Loki’s dragon form is very similar to the beast at the mural’s center. This, combined with Jarul’s recitation of the Harley prophecy – which casts Loki as the beast and Luffy as the Sun God – hints that this kind of conflict has happened before. If the idea that these beasts can become more powerful than their masters is true, Loki could be stronger than Luffy, possessing incredible abilities, and potentially become the strongest character in One Piece.
