Fans can look forward to more of Tony Tony Chopper in 2026. A new anime miniseries focusing on Luffy’s reindeer friend, simply titled ‘CHOPPER,’ has just become available to stream worldwide.
I’m so excited about the new One Piece spinoff anime! It’s airing as part of Fuji Television’s “Mezamashi TV,” which is a really popular morning show in Japan. It actually started on January 4th, 2026, and it’s broken up into two cool parts. First, there’s “Chopper’s Days,” where we get to see Chopper having all sorts of adorable little adventures in a totally animated world. Then, “Chopper’s Journey” shows him traveling around and exploring different places in present-day Japan – it sounds amazing!
In the first episode, Chopper visits Asakusa, a historic district of Tokyo known for its traditional Japanese culture and buildings. Before that, he has a fun interaction with some kangaroos. You can currently watch the anime for free online.
One Piece’s Tony Chopper Takes the Spotlight in New Anime Mini-Series Release
New episodes of CHOPPER will continue to be streamed on Mezamachi TV’s YouTube channel as they are released in Japan. Currently, the channel only offers Japanese audio and no subtitles, as it’s mainly for viewers in Japan. However, if the show becomes popular internationally, subtitles may be added. The good news is that Mezamachi TV isn’t restricted by region, so fans worldwide can watch the series and enjoy its delightful animation.
Unlike most anime, CHOPPER wasn’t animated by Toei Animation. Instead, it was a collaboration between DandeLion Animation Studio and EIGHT COLORS. DandeLion is known for its 3DCG animation work on projects like Kingdom and the 2022 film The First Slam Dunk, and has contributed to many other productions.
Studio Eight Colors also helped produce the animated film One Piece: Episode of Chopper – The Miracle Winter Cherry Blossom (2008) in collaboration with Toei Animation. Their other animation work includes the series Pokémon Horizons and the 2023 Rurouni Kenshin.
Kenta Suzuki is making his directorial debut with “Chopper’s Days,” having previously worked as an in-between artist. Yuki Nishibara is co-directing, while Hana Nagao (known for Drifting Home) and Tamao Yamaguchi are leading the animation. Tatsuki Ueda directs the “Chopper’s Journey” portions, with musical composition help from Itokan. Yuya Utamura is handling the CG animation.
The popular series One Piece has two big releases planned for 2026. The second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece will premiere on March 10th, and fans have been waiting almost three years for it. This season will adapt five key storylines from the original manga and will also feature the introduction of the character Tony Tony Chopper.
Last year, it was announced that a beloved character will be reimagined with cutting-edge CG animation and facial capture technology. Plus, Toei Animation’s popular One Piece anime is scheduled to come back in April 2026 with a new season.
You can currently watch One Piece on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Netflix. The original One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda is published in English by VIZ Media.
