About a year ago, the One Piece manga revealed a particularly important two-page spread that fans are still analyzing – and likely will be for the rest of the series. As the story nears its end, long-held mysteries are finally being explained. It’s become clear that One Piece is building towards a huge, epic battle – potentially one of the largest ever shown in manga – with many different groups involved, including pirates, the World Government, giants, and more. The story is moving quickly to set up this inevitable conflict, and things have been especially fast-paced since the start of the Elbaph arc.
The One Piece manga started its Elbaph arc at the end of 2024, but it wasn’t until early 2025 that the story really began to explore the history and importance of the giants. This exploration revisited the idea of the Sun God Nika and how giants see this figure as two separate beings. However, the biggest surprise of the arc – and maybe the entire series – was the incredible mural by Harley, painted on the Adam Tree. Today is the one-year anniversary of that unforgettable image, and fans are still studying it, trying to understand all its hidden meanings.
One Piece’s Harley Mural Is the Manga’s Biggest Revelation Yet, and It Will Remain So

Chapter 1138 of One Piece, titled “Harley,” came out on February 3, 2025, and continued the Straw Hats’ adventure on the island of Elbaph. Luffy explored the island and learned that someone similar to Shanks had previously attacked the castle’s western area. Meanwhile, Franky’s journey with Ripley, the wife of Scopper Gaban, near the Adam Tree led to an unexpected discovery: the Harley Mural. At the same time, Robin was in Elbaph’s library, starting to read a book detailing the existence of three separate worlds.
Interestingly, the Harley Mural Franky found also had incredibly detailed artwork, which fans believe shows the same three worlds seen elsewhere in the story. The mural includes pictures of almost every race introduced in the series, and because it was created around the time of the Void Century, people think its depiction of these three worlds reveals the true layout of the One Piece world. Many fans interpret the first world as representing the time before the Void Century, the second as the Void Century itself, and the third as the present day – almost like a prediction of things to come. Since Ripley compared the mural to a child’s dream, its real meaning is still a mystery, and likely won’t be fully understood until the author reveals more about it.
What truly sets this panel apart is its open-endedness, inviting fans to interpret it and build their own stories within the world of One Piece. This single two-page spread has generated countless theories and kept fans discussing it for months – a rare feat for any manga. The ‘Harley Mural’ doesn’t just reveal a lot about the story’s history, potentially explaining the origins of things like Devil Fruits and even hinting at how the world might end; it feels like the result of over twenty years of One Piece storytelling, and it’s unlikely anything will top it for a long time. Beyond that, there’s another notable element of Chapter 1138 that deserves attention.
One Piece Chapter 1138 Had Also Confirmed Another Big Mystery

Chapter 1138 of One Piece is easily one of the best in recent years, largely thanks to the stunning Harley Mural revealed within it. But the chapter also kicked off with a huge reveal: Shamrock confronting Loki. This is where fans finally learned the truth about Shanks – Shamrock confirmed they are identical twins, putting years of speculation about Shanks’ true nature to rest. The chapter then demonstrated Shamrock’s incredible power and ruthlessness as he brutally attacked the restrained Loki, leaving no doubt about his strength.
Chapter 1138 of One Piece is considered one of the most shocking in the entire manga due to the huge reveals it contained. Because the story is currently building towards the end of the current conflict, it’s possible we’ll return to the Harley Mural later on, finally understanding what it all means. If that happens, the chapter where those secrets are revealed could become a pivotal moment for the series. For now, though, the incredible two-page spread of the Harley Mural, which debuted in Chapter 1138 a year ago, remains the most mind-blowing visual the series has given us.
