Tomorrow’s State of Play presentation starts a week of exciting game showcases and announcements. It looks like one of the highlights will be Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Capcom’s reboot of the popular action series, and we might finally learn when it’s coming out.
A reliable source, intercellular – who recently revealed the logo for Rayman Legends Retold – claims the game will release on September 25th. Another insider, NateTheHate, confirms a September release is planned, though he hasn’t verified that specific date.
Launching then would be a smart move for Capcom, as it would steer clear of competition from games like The Blood of Dawnwalker, Phantom Blade Zero and the possible release of Gears of War: E-Day. It would also avoid direct competition with major November releases like Grand Theft Auto 6, and even October’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Although many expected it to release earlier, particularly since development was nearing completion last March, it seems the company is prioritizing a strong marketing push. After all, Onimusha remains a popular Capcom franchise, despite being absent from the gaming scene for quite some time.
The action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A new trailer has been released showing off the strange and exciting journey of Miyamoto Musashi.
