A popular Star Wars character might be getting their own movie! Ashley Eckstein, the original voice of Ahsoka Tano, has hinted at the possibility. Since the first *Star Wars* film in 1977, many characters have become fan favorites and gone on to star in their own shows and movies. Now, it looks like Ahsoka could be next, as she continues to play a role in the interconnected stories within the Mandalorian universe.
With a new *Mandalorian & Grogu* adventure coming this summer, Ashley Eckstein has expressed her desire to star in an animated Ahsoka movie – and fan support could make it a reality. Eckstein first voiced Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan, in the 2008 *Clone Wars* series. Having voiced the character in various animated projects, including the recent *LEGO Star Wars – Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past* on Disney+, Eckstein believes there are still many more Ahsoka stories waiting to be told.
As a long-time fan, I’m really hoping we haven’t seen the last of Ahsoka in animated form. There are so many possibilities for her story, and honestly, I’ve been picturing a full-length animated movie starring her for a while now. I’m a firm believer in putting your dreams out there, so consider this my official wish into the Star Wars universe: I desperately want an animated Ahsoka movie! It’s something I think about often, and I truly believe it would be amazing.
Eckstein recently spoke with ComicBook’s Law about *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past*. The complete interview is available below.
Fans Could Be the Key to an Ahsoka Movie
Currently, there are no official plans for an *Ahsoka* movie, but Ashley Eckstein believes that could change with enough fan support. She emphasized that fan voices are important and that Lucasfilm does listen to them. In fact, the *Ahsoka* live-action series itself happened thanks to fan demand for Rosario Dawson to play the role.
Ashley Eckstein shared that Dave Filoni revealed he initially considered Rosario Dawson for the role of Ahsoka because fans had widely suggested her. The fan casting really put Dawson on Filoni’s radar, and Eckstein encouraged fans to continue voicing what they want to see, like a dedicated Ahsoka movie.
Eckstein mentioned there are still many stories to explore within the Star Wars universe. There’s a significant period between the events of *The Clone Wars* and the start of the *Ahsoka* series that could be filled with new content. She personally feels there’s more she wants to do with the character of Ahsoka, and believes there’s potential for further animated stories. She encourages fans to share what they’d like to see happen with the character.
Ashley Eckstein Returns to Ahsoka Character in LEGO Star Wars – Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past
Whether Ashley Eckstein will eventually direct an Ahsoka movie remains to be seen, but fans can currently hear her reprise the role in the new Disney+ series, *LEGO Star Wars – Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past*. This animated sequel marks Eckstein’s first time voicing Ahsoka since 2022’s *Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi*, and she shared that revisiting a character she’s played for almost twenty years in TV and film was a very moving experience.
I was definitely emotional when Dave Filoni assured me I’d continue voicing Ahsoka in animated projects, but I wasn’t sure if the role would return. Even with his promise, I didn’t know if I’d get to voice her again, so I just waited for the call. When I finally received it, I was overjoyed and cried tears of happiness.
Eckstein shared her excitement, saying she’s a huge LEGO fan and combining that passion with her love for Star Wars was a dream come true. You can now see her portray Ahsoka in *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past*, which is currently streaming on Disney+.
