Outlander: Blood of my Blood cast tease season 2 – and say fans will “lose their minds”

Now that the first season of the Outlander prequel, Blood of My Blood, has finished, the actors – including Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Jeremy Irvine, and Hermione Corfield – have returned to Scotland to begin filming the second season of the historical fantasy series.

The first season concluded with Ellen and Brian finally together, but forced to flee from both Ellen’s family – including the unpredictable Mackenzie brothers, Dougal and Colum – and the Grants.

Meanwhile, Julia and Henry, the time-traveling couple, found each other again and finished the episode at the Craig Na Dun stones with their baby, William, hoping to return to the 20th century.

Irvine hinted that the beginning of season 2 features a character in a completely unexpected location, one that even he found puzzling to explain.

Corfield shared that they are currently filming the seventh episode of the second season, and even he doesn’t know what’s going to happen to the character Julia. He admitted he’s completely in the dark about the upcoming plot points!

Irvine playfully wondered if anyone on the show was safe from being written off, but he also shared that season two is shaping up to be even more impressive than the first.

Season one focuses on introducing the characters and giving audiences a glimpse into their pasts. This groundwork allows for more creative freedom and deeper storytelling in season two.

Sometimes while filming, I’m amazed by how much money they’re spending! This season especially has been incredible, with some really over-the-top moments. I had a lot of fun filming it, and I think viewers are going to be really thrilled with what they see.

The season finale also suggested what’s coming for Ellen and Brian. Brian will soon have a difficult choice to make as the first Jacobite Rising begins – a fact signaled by the burning crosses seen on the hills at the end of the episode.

Roy explained that Ellen and Brian are facing a critical decision. They’ve been threatened, and now have to choose between duty and love. Brian can either return to his leader and prepare for war, or he and Ellen can abandon Scotland and go on the run as fugitives.

Ellen is probably wondering what she’s gotten herself into. She just left the comfort of the castle – a warm, cozy bed – and now she’s stuck in a hole in the ground, and to make things worse, she’s being abandoned.

Slater explained that she left with nothing but the clothes she was wearing, and Ellen will have to adjust to a very different way of life. She’s always been used to luxury, but she believes he’s worth the change.

After meeting popular characters like Colum, Dougal, Ned Gowan, Murtagh, Angus, and Rupert in the first season of the Outlander prequel, viewers are excited to see more well-known faces in season two—possibly even Jamie Fraser, the son of Brian and Ellen.

You know, whenever anyone brought up the idea of little Jamie or his sister Jenny showing up on screen, Roy would just give this playful, mysterious answer. He wouldn’t commit either way, just loved to keep us guessing!

He chuckled and said, “Everyone’s born eventually, so there’s that!” Then he added, “I just read a script with a character who’s going to cause a huge reaction – people are going to go crazy for them!”
