*Warning: This article contains spoilers for Outlander: Blood of my Blood.*
Now that the first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has finished, fans can look forward to more – production for season two is already happening!
The Outlander prequel series was a success with viewers, and the finale was full of exciting twists that left everyone eager for more. The show focused on the love stories of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, and Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, all set against a backdrop of social status, power struggles, and time travel.
Although many viewers believed they understood the romantic history of Jamie’s parents, the season ended with an unexpected death that caught fans off guard.
Plus, the show left us with a lot of unanswered questions about Julia, Henry, and baby William. When can we expect season two of *Outlander: Blood of My Blood*? Keep reading to find out.
Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2 release date speculation
As of now, there’s no confirmed release date for the second season of Outlander: Blood of my Blood.
As a huge Outlander fan, I’m so excited to hear that they started filming the new season at the beginning of summer 2025! Knowing how long it usually takes to make a season, it looks like we might be waiting until late 2026 or early 2027 for season 2 of *Blood of My Blood*. It feels like forever, but I know it’ll be worth the wait!
We now know that season 8 of Outlander will premiere in early 2026, and this will be the show’s final season, marking a bittersweet ending for fans.
Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2 cast – Who will return?
The entire main cast—including Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine—will return for the second season, reprising their roles.
Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Brian McCardie, who played Isaac Grant in season one, or Jhon Lumsden, who played Malcolm Grant, in the second season. This is because both of their characters, and the actors themselves, are no longer with us, as Malcolm Grant was killed off in the season one finale by Isaac.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see this happen, because it feels like it’s been a long time coming. After ten episodes, we finally get to see them together and free, and Ellen escapes a marriage she never wanted. I believe Malcolm’s death was the only way they could have achieved that freedom.
The cast we’d expect to see in season 2 of Outlander:
- Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie
- Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser
- Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston
- Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp
- Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons
- Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie
- Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie
- Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan
- Tony Curran as Lord Simon Lovat
- Sara Vickers as Davina Porter
- Peter Mullan as Red Jacob MacKenzie
- Sally Messham as Mrs Fitz
- Terence Rae as Arch Bug
- Sadhbh Malin as Jocasta Cameron
- Ailsa Davidson as Janet MacKenzie
- Annabelle Dowler as Lizbeth
- Harry Eaton as Private Charlton
What will Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2 be about?

Okay, so the season finale left me with a lot to think about! It ended with a glimmer of hope for both couples, but wow, there was some serious stuff that’s definitely going to be explored next season. I was shocked when Brian and Ellen actually made it out together, but even more shocked by *how* – Brian had to kill Malcolm to do it. I can’t wait to see how they deal with that in season two!
After a long separation, Julia and Henry finally met again, bringing their baby, William. They were trying to return to the 20th century through the stones, but were being chased by Arch Bug and his followers. The story ended with uncertainty, leaving us wondering if they successfully escaped.
Corfield shared that they are currently filming the seventh episode of the second season, and even he doesn’t know what’s going to happen to the character Julia. He admitted he’s completely in the dark about the storyline!
Irvine explained that the first season focused on introducing the characters and giving viewers a glimpse into their pasts. This allows for much more creative freedom in season two.
Sometimes while filming, I’ve been amazed by how much money they spent on certain scenes. This season, though, it’s been even more impressive, with some truly over-the-top moments. I really had a great time filming, and I think viewers are going to be very excited about what they see.
As the Jacobite Rising begins, Brian finds himself facing a difficult moral decision. According to Roy, this creates a pivotal moment for both Brian and Ellen, presenting them with a challenging ultimatum and a clear turning point.
Brian believes he’s secure, but now he faces a difficult choice: should he return to his lord and prepare for war, or should he run away with Ellen, becoming fugitives and leaving Scotland behind forever?
Ellen is probably wondering what she’s gotten herself into. She just left the comfortable castle, with its warm bed, and now she’s stuck in a hole in the ground, and to make things worse, she’s being abandoned.
When asked about the possibility of seeing Jamie or Jenny’s birth in the show, Roy playfully hinted, “Everyone is born eventually, so who knows!”
I recently read a script with a character who I think will be incredibly popular with audiences – people are going to be obsessed!
