Outlander: Blood of My Blood star teases second season as prequel gets “crazier and crazier”

Things are only set to get more dramatic as Outlander: Blood of My Blood continues to unfold.

The show got renewed for a second season even before the first season premiered, meaning that as new episodes are still being released, followers of this historical drama can feel reassured that many more are on their way.

At the Blood of My Blood screening for Outlander’s second season, organized by TopMob on August 14th, actor Jeremy Irvine shared his thoughts: “The setting at the start of season 2 is vastly changed compared to where we ended in season 1. The storyline becomes even more unexpected and mind-blowing as it progresses.

Just like everyone else, I too am continuously learning as we delve into each new script. And sometimes, it’s hard not to exclaim, ‘Oh my god!’ when the material really hits home.

Irvine added: “Yeah, the fan theories know as much as we do.”

Talking about the second season as well, Harriet Slater expressed excitement: “It’s fantastic to be filming for a second season! We received approval before the first season even premiered, which is extraordinary. And I don’t think it’s gone unnoticed by any of us just how unusual that is.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my heartfelt appreciation for this turn of events. To spill the beans would be premature and potentially damaging, so I’ll just say, stay tuned!

Jamie Roy added: “The character development throughout season 1 was immense, and it’s thrilling to carry on this story further. To put it simply, at the premiere screening of the first episode, I felt that things had changed significantly compared to where we find ourselves today.

The story focuses on the romantic journeys of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (played by Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), as well as Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).

In June of this year, the series “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” was renewed, and when it was announced, showrunner and executive producer Matthew B Roberts expressed his excitement by saying: “The sheer amount of passion and skill that our cast and crew have invested in ‘Blood of My Blood’ is remarkable, and we can’t wait to keep telling these enchanting love stories in season 2.”

In the same manner that Jamie and Claire captured hearts, we anticipate that the newly introduced pairs will win over their admirers when they make an appearance this summer.

Fans who have been catching episodes on MGM+ are delighted to witness the ongoing growth of the Outlander universe, as a fresh batch of narratives unfolds, bringing in fresh characters and delving deeper into the lives of familiar figures from the initial series.

In the original series, there’s a character named Ned Gowan, portrayed by Bill Paterson. However, in the new production “Blood of My Blood,” this role is played by Conor MacNeill from “Industry.

His adrenaline seems to respond swiftly during action, which I find quite unexpected.

On Saturday, 9th August, the premiere of “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” aired in the UK on MGM+, and new episodes will be available each week. If you’re interested, Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” books can be purchased on Amazon.
