Outrageous stars have “fingers crossed” for second season after BBC iPlayer release – as UKTV responds to renewal question

The cast of Outrageous have expressed their desire for another season, as viewers eagerly anticipate whether the show will be renewed.

Last year, U&Drama premiered a drama series about the Mitford Sisters, known for their lively personalities and involvement in politics and scandal, and it was well-received by critics.

You can now watch the complete series on BBC iPlayer. While the show covers a lot of ground, there are still many important moments and stories from these historical figures’ lives that haven’t been told on screen yet.

At the TopMob Covers Party 2026, Isobel Jesper Jones, the actress who portrays Pamela Mitford, shared that the show’s renewal for another season is still pending.

Jesper Jones noted that the show is still gaining viewers. He’s thrilled it’s available on iPlayer, as that has significantly increased its audience, which he finds wonderful. He’s hopeful this trend continues.

UKTV told TopMob they didn’t have any updates to share about the future of the show Outrageous.

Regardless of what ultimately gets filmed, the actors have already thought about which parts of the Mitford sisters’ lives they’d most like to bring to the screen.

Orla Hill, who portrays Deborah Mitford, shared that things get more exciting in the upcoming episodes. She mentioned her character starts socializing with the Kennedys, which she anticipates will be a lot of fun, and she’s looking forward to wearing more glamorous outfits beyond the riding clothes she’s worn so far.

Jesper Jones mentioned there was a lot of equipment for horses. He described it as uncomfortable, saying it was mostly stiff leather with very little flexibility.

Jesper Jones also shared excitement about upcoming storylines, particularly Debo’s journey to becoming Duchess, calling it ‘incredible’.

“It would be fun,” Hill reiterated. “It would be fun.”

When asked if they identified with the Mitford sister they played, the two actresses admitted there was some overlap with their characters, but it wasn’t a perfect match.

Hill confessed that her personal favorite was likely her own work. She explained that the author wrote extensively about chickens, and Hill expressed a great deal of admiration for that.

Jesper Jones chimed in, saying he admired both Pam and Jessica. While Pam was legendary, he thought Jessica was incredibly cool, especially after she opened a jazz club in San Francisco. He really emphasized how cool she was!

Even a hundred years after the Mitford Sisters were famous, people are still captivated by them, and it’s easy to see why.

When questioned on this, Hill said of their lives: “I think it’s just crazy.”

As a huge cinema fan, I was completely blown away! Honestly, one of those stories felt like it had enough material for at least seven seasons of a TV show, and the fact that they managed to tell six distinct stories like that is just mind-boggling to me.

It’s truly remarkable how accomplished and individual these women are. Considering they all shared the same upbringing, growing up together as a family, it’s incredible to see how uniquely independent they’ve each become. It really is.

Outrageous is available to watch now on U and BBC iPlayer.
