The midway point of Overwatch 2 Season 17, the Midseason Surge, is now here! It’s packed with significant changes across maps, rewards, and competitive play modes. Expect revamped battlefields, unique Hero Trials, and enticing loot drops to keep gameplay engaging and exhilarating.
Flashpoint Maps Just Got Sharper
The surge starts with major updates to New Junk City and Suravasa.
The developers have revamped both maps, taking into account feedback from players. You’ll find enhanced navigation paths, more appealing aesthetics, optimized views, strategic rotations, and a clever mechanism to assist the trailing team in recovering after the midpoint is taken over.
Instead of frequently wondering “Where exactly am I?”, you’ll devote more energy to triumphing in battles. To learn more about this transformation, visit our Weekly Recall blog and explore the revamped designs.
Try Out Wuyang Before Season 18
From Wuxing University’s Water College, a newcomer Support hero named Wuyang is making an early appearance in the Hero Trial.
This character is swift, agile, and unpredictable. His equipment combines healing abilities, hybrid damage output, and seamless mobility. It’s a rhythmic Support role with a touch of versatility. The trial period starts on August 14 and lasts until the 18th, so hurry up and get a head start before his official launch in the upcoming season!
Group Up for the Better Together Event
The Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge rewards team play.
From July 29 until August 25, engage in a total of 2, 4, and 6 friendly matches with your companions to potentially open up to three Loot Boxes. It’s not essential to win these games, but successes and Stadium matches will significantly boost your advancement. Gather your team and end Season 17 on a high note!
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt Returns for a Blast
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt makes a quick comeback from August 1 to 3.
Daily, accomplish tasks that require 2, 5, and 10 victories to receive up to 9 Loot Boxes. Progress is reset each day at 11AM Pacific Time, offering a fresh start every morning. Get ready for explosions, prizes, and chaos – exactly the kind of mayhem Junkrat enjoys!
Competitive Drives Shift Gears
The competitive grind levels up during the Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge.
The Competitive Drives will resume from August 21st through the 25th. Unlike before, it’s solely wins that contribute to your Drive Score this time around. Regardless of where you currently stand, progress is achieved by accumulating victories. However, losses only become detrimental after specific milestones or checkpoints are reached.
Achieve the Season 17 Milestone, or strive for an Prestige enhancement if you outperformed during the previous season. This is your chance to accumulate points from both Main Competition and Arena modes. Invite your friends as team victories reward extra points.
Show Off with OWCS Cosmetics
The Overwatch Champions Series is heating up, and now you can show your support in style.
Choose between the Radiant Angel Mercy skin or any of the nine OWCS Partner Team Packs. Each pack contains 3 character skins, a weapon charm, spray, icon, and name card. The China region offers three unique bundles as well. If you’re still looking for more, consider purchasing the three-team Mega Bundle to access exclusive emotes.
Support your favorite team from the lobby to the Finals.
As a dedicated gamer diving into Overwatch 2’s Season 17, I can’t help but feel the surge of exhilarating action, sleek style, and unparalleled progression. The reworked battlefields have given fights a new speed that keeps things fresh and exciting. Wuyang, the latest Support hero, presents an innovative approach to team strategies. To top it off, Competitive Drives and Loot Hunts ensure a constant stream of rewards to help you elevate your gameplay to new heights. This is your chance to seize the moment and take your gaming skills to the next level!
