Blizzard Entertainment promised to share more details about its popular game franchises this year, and it’s starting with Overwatch. The game, previously known as Overwatch 2, is reverting to its original name, setting the stage for an exciting year for fans of the team-based shooter.
The core of the story revolves around Vendetta, a powerful character who quickly became popular last year. A new animated short reveals her origins and motivations, showing how she rose through the ranks of Talon and became a serious threat. The short culminates in a dramatic showdown where she battles Doomfist to the death.
Vendetta quickly defeats Doomfist with her speed and skill, then confidently takes charge of Talon and announces her plan to take over the world. This dramatic moment kicks off a new, story-focused direction for the game, as Blizzard revamps the experience. The first part of this new story begins on February 10th and will introduce five new playable characters.
Five more seasons are planned for this year, each adding a new character to the game. This means 2026 is looking promising for Overwatch players, and they’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice and improve their skills.
