Ozi Voice of the Forest – REVIEW

As someone who has spent a considerable amount of time traversing the vast, untouched wildernesses of our world, I found “Ozi Voice of the Forest” to be a heartwarming and thought-provoking animated adventure that resonated deeply with my experiences. The film’s message about deforestation, the perils of palm oil, and the importance of preserving our natural habitats is one that I wholeheartedly support, although I must admit it may be a tad heavy for younger viewers to fully grasp.

As a lifelong animal lover and environmental activist, I find myself deeply moved by the latest ecologically themed animated feature film, “Ozi Voice of the Forest”. Having spent much of my life working to protect endangered species and preserve natural habitats, I can’t help but feel a strong connection to this heartwarming story.

However, Ozi realizes that it was Greenzat Corporation’s app that caused her parents’ disappearance. In search of them, she ends up in a bio-sphere filled with animals supposedly saved by the company. This is where the movie’s main theme – the devastation of forests due to palm oil production and the harm it causes to the environment – becomes clear. It’s questionable whether such a heavy message is suitable for a film targeted at such a young audience, as it might be challenging for them to understand or relate to concepts like deforestation and palm oil in their daily lives. For instance, it seems unlikely that a child would care about the origin of ingredients in processed food while shopping with their parent.

In simpler terms, Ozi, a character from this story, represents an orangutan equivalent to Greta Thunberg, a renowned environmental activist. The animation is lively and cheerful, but it falls short compared to studios like Illumination and Pixar, particularly in their ability to realistically depict fur texture, which is noticeably lacking here. The orangutans’ fur appears rather flat and not as detailed as what you would see in a Pixar animation.

In this final movie, Donald Sutherland provides the voice for the cunning crocodile working alongside a corporation, outshining a supporting cast that includes a witty baby rhino and a tricky monkey. Despite its good intentions, the film, while visually appealing with its bright animal characters and landscapes, is somewhat generic and may not resonate with its young audience due to themes they might not fully understand.
