Robert Trujillo is remembering the Prince of Darkness.
Indeed, the bassist for the band Metallica – who was also a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band from 1996 to 2003 – shared his thoughts about touching moments experienced at the private funeral service held for the deceased in Birmingham, England.
Robert mentioned on his August 7th episode of ‘Trunk Nation’ podcast that the gathering was quite intimate yet incredibly beautiful. He added a touch of melancholy as well, acknowledging that despite the sadness, some speeches were surprisingly humorous. People exchanging stories led to unexpected laughter, creating a sense of closure from the event.
At the July 30 event, a 60-year-old individual, who was joined by Sharon Osbourne and her children Kelly, Jack, Aimee, and Louis, among others, thinks that Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman, was present in spirit, offering comfort to those gathered.
At the start of the service, it was raining, but as the service continued, the weather evolved, bringing about various changes.
Primarily, he emphasized that Kelly, aged 40, received special focus from the weather as she sang her father’s 1991 hit, “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” on an acoustic guitar. (Furthermore, she paid tribute to the late rocker who passed away following a heart attack on July 22, by incorporating his signature style in her outfit, specifically wearing round sunglasses.)
When Kelly was singing, her words seemed to soar, as if a breeze carried them off. It felt akin to Ozzy enjoying her performance.
It’s clear that Mother Nature’s influence didn’t cease there. In addition, the guitarist mentioned that following Geezer Butler’s heartfelt tribute, the sun actually made an appearance.
Indeed, he affirmed, the sun truly did appear, making everything breathtakingly charming thereafter. It was a most enchanting moment.
Robert’s memory of the funeral surfaced several days later, following his emotional tribute dedicated to the “Crazy Train” performer.
Ozzy was a modest man with an honesty that could be painful at times, but he had a wit that made everything simply extraordinary. This description perfectly encapsulates him from his July 29th Instagram post. We’re all incredibly grateful for his compassion and spirit. For many, Ozzy and Black Sabbath continue to serve as the soundtrack to our lives, providing an inspiration that words can hardly express. I consider them the pioneers of alternative rock.
