Louis Osbourne knows The Prince of Darkness was a light to many people.
Jack Osbourne, 50, said he was overwhelmed by the huge turnout at his father’s public funeral in July. The event, honoring the late Ozzy Osbourne’s life, left him speechless, especially seeing so many fans pay their respects.
Louis remembered telling his brother Jack Osbourne on the “Trying Not To Die” podcast that the crowd at the parade was much larger than he expected. Since he still lives in Birmingham, he knew the route and anticipated only a few rows of people for about half a kilometer before they reached the Black Sabbath bridge.
However, the turnout at the procession was bigger than he expected.
Oh my god, just thinking about it gives me chills! It was absolutely unreal, seriously insane. Everywhere you looked, people were doing the most to catch a glimpse – scaling lampposts, practically hanging off buildings, even standing on top of bus shelters! It was breathtaking, truly awe-inspiring. And when we all got out to pay our respects and lay down flowers? The crowd just kept going – it stretched for half a mile, easily! I’ll never forget it.
Thousands of fans are said to have gathered on the streets of Birmingham to show their support. Following that, Ozzy Osbourne and his family – including Sharon Osbourne, 73, and their children Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 40 – held a private memorial service for him at their home.
Although Louis was aware people admired his father, the late Ozzy Osbourne (who passed away on July 22nd at 76 after a fight with Parkinson’s disease), the overwhelming show of support truly highlighted just how iconic he was.
He said the experience had been surprisingly grounding, and then shared how much Ozzy’s music meant to him personally. While he enjoyed Ozzy’s solo career, he’s always been a bigger fan of Black Sabbath – their music is deeply ingrained in him. He’s now fully realized just how significant Ozzy’s influence has been on culture.
Louis isn’t the only Osbourne family member reflecting on Ozzy’s life. Sharon revealed that King Charles III, age 77, contacted them after Ozzy passed away.
She explained on the November 12th episode of The Osbournes podcast that he’s a wonderful person, and not just because he reached out after Ozzy’s passing. She believes if he took the time to do that for their family, he likely does the same for countless others.
She explained that he’s a genuinely kind person. He’s gone above and beyond for Ozzy over the years, even when it wasn’t required – like for Ozzy’s birthday and when he was hospitalized after the motorcycle accident. She emphasized that he’s a truly good and considerate man.

What an incredible talent and the impact he had on me—and countless others—was immense.
