This year, Ironwood Studios’ popular game, Pacific Drive, is set to release its first paid expansion titled Whispers in the Woods. In this expansion, players will explore a new region within the Olympic Exclusion Zone that has been claimed by “Anomaly-obsessed fanatics.” You can watch the eerie trailer announcing this addition below.
After an initial brief period, you’ll be able to delve into “The Whispers of the Forest,” a fresh adventure spanning between 8 to 12 hours. As you venture through the enigmatic woods, uncovering novel maps, altars, adjustable routes, and resources, you’ll simultaneously stumble upon intriguing Anomalies and items to personalize your station wagon.
Additionally, you’ll find some fresh artifacts that bring about “unexplained alterations and impacts,” making gameplay tougher yet potentially more profitable. This appears to be a ‘balancing act between peril and reward,’ but we’ll have to stay tuned for further updates (and the launch date).
The game titled “Pacific Drive” is playable on both PlayStation 5 and personal computers. As of February 2025, it has achieved the milestone of selling over a million copies. You can read our review for the initial version here, but since its launch, there have been substantial changes including updated gameplay settings, Permadeath, Expeditions, and more.
