This article examines seven DC Comics heroes whose reputations were damaged within their own stories, and explores whether those characters were ever successfully restored to their former glory.

Now that the X-Men are officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re seeing versions of the characters that are much more faithful to the comics. Professor X appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Beast showed up in The Marvels, and Wolverine and Gambit will be in Deadpool & Wolverine, all looking more like their 90s comic book versions than in past films. The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will give the X-Men their biggest role in the MCU so far, and it will finally introduce a major character who’s been missing from the films until now.

The X-Men’s long and complex history is notoriously difficult to follow, thanks to time travel, major story changes, and powerful cosmic events. But much of that confusion centers around one character: Cyclops. He’s consistently portrayed as the X-Men’s best leader and has had many important relationships. Looking back at the X-Men’s timeline, he’s often at the heart of the most complicated storylines. There’s been talk of Cyclops playing a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that could prove to be even more complex than fans realize.

Even critically acclaimed and meaningful films don’t always succeed commercially, especially with so many movies competing for attention. War films, in particular, often struggle to find an audience right away. This can happen for several reasons – the timing might be off, the movie might lack clear heroes, or it could be too serious for most viewers. A film can receive rave reviews or become a beloved classic later on, but still fail to make money in theaters.

Twirlbound, the team behind the overlooked gem Pine, has done it again with The Knightling, a truly innovative and captivating open-world game. The Knightling builds on everything that made Pine good, adding its own unique touches to create an even better experience. It’s so fantastic that I strongly urge you to play it, and to remember other excellent indie open-world games that deserve attention alongside the big-budget titles.

Andy Serkis will direct and star in The Hunt for Gollum, once again playing Gollum. Peter Jackson returns as a producer, and the writers of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh, are writing the script. As for what happens to Gandalf, Sir Ian McKellan, who plays the character, says he can’t reveal details, but the script is designed for fans of Lord of the Rings. The story will be an adventure, focusing on Aragorn’s search for Gollum, with Gandalf providing guidance from behind the scenes.

The final episode of Disney’s popular cartoon, Gargoyles, aired on February 15, 1997. In the 78th and last episode, titled Angels in the Night, Xanatos surprisingly helps Goliath and the Manhattan Clan escape a dangerous trap set by John Castaway and the Quarrymen. This not only saves the gargoyles, but also reveals the Quarrymen’s true intentions, leading the city to finally recognize the gargoyles as the heroes they are and fully accept them. While the ending was positive, many fans felt the series ended prematurely.

With each new Nintendo console, a new Paper Mario game appears, consistently being a fan favorite. However, many fans believe the series peaked with its first two installments, and subsequent games haven’t lived up to that standard. Paper Mario: The Origami King showed promise, but the recent success of the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake makes it clear what players want. If Nintendo releases a new Paper Mario game on the Switch 2, it needs to recapture the magic that originally made the series so beloved.

The manga artist regularly updates fans on social media, often posting new character art for special occasions. This Valentine’s Day, she shared a beautiful illustration on X (formerly Twitter) featuring Hak and Yona, a popular couple from her series. The artwork shows them bundled in winter clothes as snow falls, with their companion, Ao, nearby. It’s a sweet scene of Hak leaning on Yona, emphasizing their close bond, and fans loved it! The post quickly went viral, gaining thousands of likes as excitement builds for the next season and the development of their relationship.
