Steam Next Fest is a lot of fun, but with so many demos, streams, and announcements, it can be hard to know where to start. While checking the trending charts is helpful, you might miss some great games that aren’t getting as much attention. I’ve played a bunch of demos early, and I want to share a few of the most exciting ones – a mix of popular titles and hidden gems that I think you’ll really enjoy.

Amazon Game That Just Released in 2025 Is Already Shutting Down

Amazon announced this week that it will shut down the cooperative platformer King of Meat in just over a month. The game, developed by Glowmade and released in October 2025, allowed players to build and share their own levels. While players who tried King of Meat generally enjoyed it, it didn’t attract a large enough audience. A24 Reveals Creepy New Horror Movie That Started on 4Chan – Watch the Trailer

The Backrooms started as an idea on the online forum 4chan in 2019. It’s a fictional, endlessly large place of empty rooms that people become trapped in by seemingly phasing through walls – a phenomenon called “no-clipping.” The concept began with a photo of a Wisconsin toy store being renovated, shared on a paranormal-themed board. Users were asked to share unsettling pictures of empty locations. One user described the original photo, unknowingly creating the name and legend of “The Backrooms.” They described it as a place filled with the smell of damp carpet, unsettling yellow tones, the constant hum of fluorescent lights, and countless empty rooms – a truly inescapable space.

Especially since 2026 hasn’t offered many strong RPGs yet, it’s a great time to appreciate everything Avowed does well.

He’s considered one of the show’s best villains, and the latter part of the season focuses on his cruel manipulation of Buffy. This culminates in Episode 17, “Passion,” where his psychological torment of her reaches a devastating peak with the shocking death of Jenny Calendar.
