Netlflix Creator Confirms Major Anime Original Has Ended

The animated series Terminator Zero, which debuted on Netflix in 2024 as a collaboration with Production I.G., has been cancelled after one season. While the show received positive reviews from both critics and viewers, creator Matt Tomlinson revealed on social media that viewership numbers weren’t high enough to justify renewal. The series explored the origins of Skynet and the development of a new AI to combat it, blending classic Terminator elements with innovative new robotic designs. Tomlinson expressed disappointment at not being able to continue the story he envisioned, but also noted he was proud of the complete narrative the eight-episode season provided.
