At present, Kadokawa boasts a variety of studio affiliates such as ENGI, Studio KADAN, Raging Bull, Belnox Films, Doga Kobo, and their latest addition, Chiptune. Chiptune often teams up with bigger studios to deliver CGI and photography services for particular projects, while studios like Doga Kobo have gained fame for complete productions like “Oshi no Ko” and “Plastic Memories.” This suggests that Kadokawa aims to extend its reach into every facet of the industry. In an article published by Oricon, Kadokawa expressed that integrating Chiptune will allow them to in-house anime photography, ensure consistent production resources, improve visual quality, and preserve technical knowledge. The company has previously declared their intention to prioritize anime production more significantly, and it appears they want to streamline this endeavor through a closely-knit network of studios that they’ve acquired.
