I was absolutely shocked during the awards ceremony on February 22nd. John Davidson, the incredibly brave man whose life with Tourette’s inspired the movie I Swear, unexpectedly shouted a racial slur twice while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting the award for Best Visual Effects. It was a really difficult moment to witness. While the UK broadcast actually showed it, the network later said they regretted that it happened.

Her debut novel, The List of Suspicious Things, published in 2024, quickly became a bestseller, reaching the top of The Sunday Times charts and becoming one of the best-selling first novels ever in the UK. It sold an impressive 10,000 copies in its first week—and remarkably, it was the very first thing she had ever written.

As a film and TV fan, I’ve been thinking a lot about the BBC lately, and honestly, I’m worried. Even if it does manage to stay afloat, will it still be the same BBC we know and love, or will it just become another big commercial company? I’m not sure if it’s truly safe with politicians calling the shots, or even with the people running things right now. It’s easy to forget, but the BBC is supposed to be for us, the public – they even used to say ‘It’s Your BBC!’ – and now, we actually have a chance to make our voices heard about its future.

This film tells the story of how the famous detective first began his career, directed by Guy Ritchie. It shows him as a young, inexperienced man, before he honed his skills and became known for his iconic look.

Last year, the BBC revealed that its collaboration with Disney on the show Doctor Who had finished. Over the course of their partnership, they produced 26 episodes, including the two seasons starring Ncuti Gatwa and the spin-off series The War Between the Land and the Sea.

She’s known for her roles on television, including David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return. She also received an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for portraying Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of a disgraced company, in The Dropout.
