Many excellent science fiction shows have become classics, but not all of them achieve widespread popularity. For every well-known sci-fi hit, there’s another fantastic show that remains under the radar, and that doesn’t diminish its quality. Whether famous or a hidden treasure, some sci-fi TV shows are consistently brilliant from start to finish.
As a huge fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the incredible bending powers always felt perfect for a video game. It’s no surprise they tried to make games during the show’s original run! Sadly, those first three games weren’t great, and the last one ended up only on older consoles like Nintendo and PlayStation 2, which was a step down since the second game was on Xbox 360. There have been a few other Avatar games since then, and now even a fighting game is coming, but what we really want is a massive, high-quality RPG where we can truly experience the power of bending as the Avatar!
Directed by Justin Tipping, Him is a new horror film from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. It follows a promising young football player who believes he’s ready to do whatever it takes to achieve his dreams, but he soon discovers the frightening reality behind the pursuit of fame.
James Gunn and his team should be pleased with the positive response from fans, but ultimately, box office numbers are what truly matter. Superman earned a respectable $616.7 million with a budget of $225 million – a good result, especially considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the biggest superhero franchise, is currently facing challenges attracting audiences. Despite this success, some critics point to the film not reaching $1 billion in revenue as evidence that the new DC Universe isn’t taking off.
The classic manga and anime series Fist of the North Star is getting a fresh start with a brand new anime to celebrate its 40th anniversary. This revival will look different from previous iterations, utilizing fully CG animation and a new creative team. You can get a first look at the new anime below before it premieres next year.

Guy Ritchie’s new film, The Covenant, is now available on Netflix. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim and tells the story of a U.S. Army sergeant who risks everything to rescue the interpreter who helped his unit in Afghanistan. The movie has been well-received by critics, earning an 83% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (Note: this is a different film than the 2006 horror movie also called The Covenant.)
According to a Bloomberg report, David Zaslav expressed confidence in James Gunn’s vision for the DC Universe, saying it should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they watch. Zaslav explained that Gunn and Peter Safran aim to explore various commercial avenues for DC content, not just in cinemas and on HBO Max. He noted that some stories are best experienced in theaters, while others are better suited as streaming series.
Wow, there’s a ton coming out! I’m especially excited about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but I’m also really intrigued by Skate Story and all the new Yakuza games. And who could forget Terminator 2D: No Fate? It’s going to be hard to choose what to play first!
Despite becoming a key ally to Batman in the first film, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman (Selina Kyle) isn’t expected to appear in The Batman Part II. The movie saw her investigating Gotham’s criminal side with Batman and seeking revenge for a friend’s death, a quest cut short when her father was killed. While the first film left her future open-ended, it seems she won’t be back for the sequel. Though fans will be disappointed, this might be the best choice for the story overall.
