James Cameron Announces His First Non-Avatar Movie Since 1997

Film director James Cameron, well-known for his significant contributions to the movie industry with iconic works like Titanic and the Avatar film series, is set to embark on a new project outside of the Avatar universe after many years. This upcoming film, titled Last Train From Hiroshima, is based on Charles R. Pellegrino’s book by the same name, published in 2015, as well as his forthcoming book Ghosts of Hiroshima, expected to release in 2025. Although a specific production timeline or release date has yet to be announced, Cameron intends to begin work on this project once his schedule for the Avatar movies permits it. The film will delve into the true account of a Japanese man during World War II who miraculously survived the atomic bombing in Hiroshima, boarded a train to Nagasaki, and then endured another nuclear explosion in that city.
