Netflix released the anime series The Summer Hikaru Died this summer, adapting the original manga by Mokumokuren. The story centers around Yoshiki Tsujinaka and his friend Hikaru, who mysteriously returns from the dead. The series is praised for its strong character development and genuinely frightening atmosphere. The anime’s popularity has boosted manga sales to 4.5 million copies, establishing it as a leading horror manga. With new chapters still being published, the future looks bright for this series and its characters.

If the next Lord of the Rings film wants to regain the franchise’s popularity and box office success, it needs to attract a larger audience than the previous movie. The War of the Rohirrim earned only $20 million worldwide, which was a record low for the series. But the decline in performance actually began 11 years ago, and the franchise hasn’t recovered since.

From the very start, what’s always impressed me about Absolute Flash is its character work, and this issue really showcases that strength. We all know Wally West and Grodd are compelling, but Captain Cold… there’s just something about him. He’s so capable and collected, he instantly commands your attention whenever he appears. Honestly, the Rogues have been a standout element of this series since day one, and this issue utilizes them brilliantly. Trickster continues to be a scene-stealer – Jesse’s sharp humor never misses – and the fight with Heatwave is a fantastic little diversion, perfectly capturing the Rogues’ dynamic with a clever assist. It’s a genuinely enjoyable sequence that makes you think the main event is over… but trust me, it’s not.

In the newest season, Donatello starts communicating with a mutant creature called Wingnut, voiced by Natasia Demetriou (known from What We Do In The Shadows). As seen in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, Donatello is a big anime fan – he even talks about Attack on Titan. In a funny scene (available below), Wingnut shares a “secret message” for Donatello, referencing Nico Robin’s battle against CP9 in the anime One Piece.

In 2004, Disney bought The Muppets, which seemed like a great fit for their collection of beloved characters, even though the Muppets are known for being unconventional. Disney’s had some success with Muppet projects over the years, but recently announced a major revival of the original The Muppet Show after over 40 years. Now, we have a premiere date, ending a decades-long gap in new episodes.
