In an older issue of Batman/Superman: World’s Finest (#4), Batman and Superman found themselves facing a mind-controlled Green Lantern, manipulated by the villain Nezha. To defeat him, they combined their willpower to remove the Power Ring from his finger. Although Green Lantern usually has a stronger will than either hero individually, he was no match for their combined strength. As they pulled the ring off, their shared willpower briefly fused them into one being. Now, this same fusion is happening again, but this time to battle an even more dangerous enemy: a combined force of Lex Luthor and the Joker.

Robert Downey Jr. will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, but surprisingly not as his famous character, Tony Stark. He’s set to play Doctor Doom instead. While this casting choice helps resolve some issues with the film, several problems still need to be worked out before or during the movie. The larger Multiverse Saga has created a lot of challenges for Avengers: Doomsday, and the directors, the Russo brothers, will need to address these in this sixth-phase sequel and future installments.

Starting next March, DC Comics will launch the “Wonder War” storyline in Wonder Woman #31. In a grim future, the villainous Matriarch has taken over the DC Universe, defeating or subjugating all heroes and villains, and nearly wiping out the Amazons. Wonder Woman will travel to this dark future to stop the Matriarch, and she’ll have help – teaming up with her daughter, Trinity, for the first time ever. Together, they’ll fight to defeat the Matriarch and restore peace to the DC Universe.

According to Variety, Avatar: Fire and Ash brought in $12 million in the U.S. from showings on Thursday, December 18th. This is the same amount that Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World earned from its early screenings earlier this year. However, Fire and Ash’s initial numbers are lower than those of Avatar: The Way of Water, which made $17 million from preview showings.
