
Tim Burton’s 2005 film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has a strong 83% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of his best-received movies. However, audiences haven’t been as impressed, giving it a lower 51% score – placing it among his least favorite films with viewers. Based on Roald Dahl’s classic 1964 children’s book (previously adapted into the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder), the movie began streaming on Paramount+ on December 1st. It stars Johnny Depp as the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, who invites five children, including young Charlie, to explore his magical chocolate factory after they find golden tickets.
