Tolkien hadn’t yet planned the dramatic rescue of Frodo and Sam by the Great Eagles after the Ring’s destruction. He initially considered having Merry and Pippin find them in the desolate land of Gorgoroth. Interestingly, he also noted that if one of the hobbits were to die, it should be Pippin, but in a surprisingly brave act – though he never finished outlining what that act might be. Sadly, Tolkien left this plan unfinished. However, a passage in the final version of The Lord of the Rings feels like it could have originally been written as Pippin’s final moments.

Rewatching Avengers: Endgame reveals that the much-debated decision actually makes perfect sense, and is even cleverly executed thanks to the Professor’s key action: using the Infinity Gauntlet for a second, vital snap.

Following the release of the Superman film, DC Studios shared a first look at the Supergirl movie poster, but there hasn’t been much news since. As the winter movie season begins and 2025 nears its end, studios are starting to promote their major films planned for 2026.

So, I was chatting with Michael Giacchino – you probably know him from the music in ‘First Steps’ and his directing gig on the ‘Werewolf by Night’ special – and he told me a pretty wild story. Apparently, after seeing the finished cut of the movie, he felt like the score just didn’t work. He ended up having to completely rewrite the entire thing! Can you imagine? Starting over on a full movie score after all that work? It just shows how much he cares about getting everything perfect.
