As a cinephile reflecting on the cinematic journey of a renowned director, I must acknowledge that not every film of his has withstood the test of time. However, some of his masterpieces, such as “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and “Ed Wood,” continue to captivate audiences today. Regrettably, films like “Mars Attacks!”, “Planet of the Apes (2001),” and “Dark Shadows” have largely faded from memory, deservedly so.
Yet, one of his films that initially received a tepid response from both fans and critics, but is worthy of renewed interest, is 2016’s “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.” Fortunately, this movie now has another opportunity to find an audience as it becomes accessible through streaming services.
