It’s truly amazing how certain franchises have persisted for such a long time. For example, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be celebrating its 17th year this May, but adaptations of Marvel comics were already happening years prior, as evidenced by the Fox X-Men and Fantastic Four films, along with the Sam Raimi Spider-Man series. Given that some franchises have been going strong for decades, it’s not unexpected to see actors taking on multiple roles within the same franchise, particularly in comic book adaptations.

1993 saw the debut of my beloved game, Magic: The Gathering, and ever since then, it’s been a rollercoaster ride as one of the most captivating tabletop gaming experiences globally! With more than 50 million enthusiasts like myself by 2023, it’s no wonder that the franchise has amassed over $1 billion in annual revenue. The popularity of Magic: The Gathering is truly astounding, and it comes as no surprise that it would ignite a cultural phenomenon. This explosion in interest has led to an intriguing array of adaptations – from comic books that delve into the rich tapestry of characters within the Magic universe, to film and television projects that have had a tough time seeing the big screen.

Wow, what a fascinating plot twist! In the sixth episode of “Creature Commandos,” titled “Priyatel Skelet,” we delve into the past of Dr. Alex Sartorius (Alan Tudyk), better known as the bone-chilling sociopath, Dr. Phosphorus. This character, funded by Batman’s adversary Rupert Thorne (Benjamin Byron Davis), has been conducting research on nuclear fusion treatments to cure cancer. Unlike the origin story of Bruce Wayne, which won’t be explored in the new DC Universe, our Dark Knight, much like Superman portrayed by David Corenswet, is already established as Batman before his appearance in “Creature Commandos” and the upcoming “The Brave and the Bold.
