HBO expressed enthusiasm for Matt Reeves’ Batman Crime Epic Saga only playing in cinemas. Before the 2022 release of the film featuring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, HBO Max had already commissioned two television spin-offs: “The Penguin,” chronicling Oz Cobbs’ (Colin Farrell) ascent to power following the movie, and a series centered around a corrupt police officer in Gotham City, set a year before the film. Initially titled “Gotham P.D.,” it was later reworked into the now-cancelled “Arkham Asylum” series; however, some aspects of that crime drama found their way into “The Penguin,” which premieres on HBO and Max on September 19th.
