According to producer Ben Rosenblatt, the upcoming film *Predator: Badlands* is being targeted for a PG-13 rating. Following the success of *The Dark Knight*, several major DC villains have appeared in films, either as part of the DC Extended Universe or in standalone movies. Here are three instances where excellent casting choices were let down by poorly written villains.
Marvel’s cinematic universe (MCU) has been unfolding in phases. Phases 4 and 5 released between 2021 and 2025, and Phase 6 is scheduled to conclude in 2027. If this pattern continues, Phase 7 will likely see new releases between 2028 and 2030, potentially bringing four to six movies to theaters – a number influenced by Marvel’s current, more measured release pace. The movie *Urban Legend*, which came out two years after *Scream*, is now available to stream on Paramount+ again, starting October 1st. While it’s very similar to *Scream*, it was still popular when it first came out.
Hawkman first became popular as a DC hero in the 1940s, and when comics shifted again, he was reintroduced in 1961 in *The Brave and the Bold* #34. Like many classic heroes being updated, Hawkman received a new backstory, becoming Katar Hol, an alien police officer from the planet Thanagar. The original Golden Age Hawkman eventually reappeared on Earth-Two, and things were relatively stable until the *Crisis on Infinite Earths* reboot. This event merged all DC universes into one, resulting in two different Hawkman origins. A third origin arrived with the *Hawkworld* series, making Hawkman’s history incredibly complex. But as a fan, I believe that confusing continuity is actually part of what makes Hawkman so enjoyable!
