This week saw a major update for Assassin’s Creed Unity, most notably adding support for 60 frames per second. The game launched with significant technical problems, which is reflected in its 70 Metacritic score. However, over time, those issues were resolved, revealing a truly excellent Assassin’s Creed game that many fans unfortunately never got to fully enjoy due to the rocky start. Even then, Unity was visually impressive, and it still holds up today. This new update is bringing players back to the game, and many are discovering that it looks as good now, if not better, than more recent titles.

Over the years, some changes to established storylines (retcons) have become popular with fans or even become crucial to the ongoing narrative. But many others, when examined closely, just don’t add up. Here are 10 retcons from DC Comics that seem illogical and it’s unclear why the company thought they were a good solution.

When it was time to create Deep Space Nine in the early 1990s, the show’s creators felt limited by some established Star Trek guidelines. As producer Rick Berman later explained, Gene Roddenberry had a strong preference against significant conflict between 24th-century human characters, which made developing compelling storylines difficult. Fortunately, the Deep Space Nine team found a way around this by focusing conflicts on interactions between Starfleet personnel and civilians, and between humans and their surroundings.

The BBC remains fully dedicated to Doctor Who. Lindsay Salt, the BBC’s Director of Drama, recently stated it’s “one of the BBC’s most treasured brands” and has no plans to cancel it. Interestingly, they haven’t even begun discussing how to fund future seasons, likely due to the current uncertainty surrounding the BBC’s overall budget. Salt explained they are open to different production models and want to ensure the show is made properly, taking the necessary time to do so. However, funding decisions will need to be addressed eventually.

This new collection is a celebration of the hugely popular movie, created as a thank you to its fans. It’s about 10 minutes long and includes four short segments. These feature the cast reacting to fan videos, showcase amazing cosplays inspired by the film, highlight families enjoying the movie together through dances and sing-alongs, and take a deep dive into the success of the hit song, “Golden.”

Even at lower levels, wizards can still be surprisingly vulnerable – a single arrow from a goblin can still take them down. However, experienced, high-level wizards have enough magical versatility to overcome these weaknesses. While this core aspect of the class hasn’t changed with the 2024 rules update for D&D, many other parts of the Wizard have been significantly altered. To fully understand these changes, it helps to remember a major limitation Wizards used to have in older versions of the game.

Sega’s initial home video game console was the SG-1000, which launched in Japan and select other countries, but never made it to North America. Because of this, it didn’t directly compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System in the US, and it remains largely unknown to many gamers. Over a few years, the SG-1000 was released in various designs. It offered a collection of 51 game cartridges and 29 Sega My Card games. While reasonably popular, the console had some technical drawbacks and ultimately finished last in the market. However, it does feature some enjoyable titles, such as Safari Race, Star Force, Wonder Boy, Sega-Galaga, and more.
