Released in 1999, it was a revamped version of the classic games *R-Type* and *R-Type II*, combining them into a single, colorized experience. *R-Type* first appeared in arcades in 1987 and later came to the original Game Boy in 1991. Its sequel, *R-Type II*, was released in 1989, but unlike the first game, it was never released as a separate, standalone title.
