Fans adore Hickman’s portrayal of Spider-Man, as it adds depth to the beloved character. Unlike Earth 1610, his challenges are more intense, yet the challenges of the original Spider-Man remain significant too. Reinventing classic characters presents fresh aspects for readers, however, we can’t overlook what the original brings to the table that the new one doesn’t. Ultimately, this leads to two unique interpretations of Ultimate Spider-Man, each contributing something valuable to the narrative.

Highlighting two renowned animated series – “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” (1994-1998) and “The Spectacular Spider-Man” (2008-2009) – I’d like to point out seven Spider-Man villains whose characters have been made more captivating and memorable due to their animated portrayals.

In the group of Divine Trees, there’s one named Matsuri who closely resembles Moegi Kazamatsuri. During the recent conflict, it was Matsuri who made a significant impact as she unveiled that these Divine Tree entities continue to carry the emotions from their original selves. Among all her feelings, it was her romantic affection for Konohamaru Sarutobi that stood out the most. Though this romantic development between them wasn’t evident in the original Naruto series, Boruto has now confirmed through the latest conflict that a growing romance exists between them. This romantic angle played a crucial role in the battle, allowing Konohamaru to eventually overcome Matsuri and rescue Moegi. Afterward, they shared a touching moment that fans had been eagerly anticipating for quite some time.

From the very beginning of issue #1, hints emerged suggesting that Barry wasn’t the beloved hero we are accustomed to. While he appeared friendly and protective towards Wally, there were instances where his behavior seemed slightly off-kilter. For example, his confrontation with Wally’s father over showing him around. At the time, it was simple to dismiss these incidents as Barry seeing potential in Wally and being overzealous in nurturing it. However, viewed from a villainous perspective, these moments take on an unsettling tone.

The two series are each illustrated by distinct artists, leaving Akasaka solely responsible for their storylines. Given that these series appear weekly, the workload could potentially be demanding, considering Akasaka is also engaged in an ongoing romance fantasy titled “Maerchen Crown“, illustrated by Azychika who is also known for “Record of Ragnarok“. Debuting in Shueisha’s “Weekly Young Jump” in March 2025, “Maerchen Crown” has sparked a lot of excitement, especially since it is Akasaka’s first manga following the contentious ending of “Oshi no Ko“. With these new releases, some fans have speculated if “Maerchen Crown” might be discontinued. However, is there any truth to this?
