Key figures like Zoro and Sanji are integral to the crew, not just because of their power, but also due to their steadfast loyalty and capacity for sound judgment when Luffy isn’t around. While Rayleight was revealed during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc after the time-skip, Gaban recently joined the Straw Hats in the Elbaf Arc. Although the series has subtly hinted at the similarities between Luffy’s and Roger’s teams, the latest Chapter 1156 cover officially confirms this connection.

Nevertheless, it might be a self-contained story, separate from the main Marvel Universe.
