Kevin Feige Teases Punisher’s Role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and How They Work Together

Hired by the publisher of The Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson, Peter Parker was tasked with photographing a vigilante known as “The Punisher,” who was waging war against the mafia. In disguise as his alter-ego, Spider-Man met up with the Punisher (who at this point had not been identified as Frank Castle) under false pretenses. The Punisher called off the hit when Spider-Man discovered proof that a man named Jackal was responsible for killing his mechanic, Reiss, and planned to frame him for the murder. However, the Punisher targeted Spider-Man again, mistakenly believing him to be the culprit in another case, as depicted in Amazing Spider-Man #135. This issue marked the first instance where Spider-Man and The Punisher reluctantly teamed up to thwart a common enemy: Anton Miguel Rodriguez, also known as the original Tarantula.
