In the new series, Evan is joined by Romola Garai, who plays John’s wife, Claire. Zahra Ahmadi joins the cast as Mehreen, an intelligence officer brought in to cover John’s work when he faces an internal investigation.

Because of this, the show needed to showcase incredible settings. These locations had to feel like both a beautiful paradise at the start, and a frightening, dangerous place as the boys lose their sense of order.

The actress became a popular part of the BBC One soap opera in 2013, playing Linda, who would eventually become the landlady of the Queen Vic pub. She’s been a central figure in many of the show’s most important stories ever since.

ITV’s new show, Betrayal, immediately sets itself apart by presenting a realistic take on espionage. It focuses not only on the main character, John, and his work, but also on the difficulties he’s facing in his failing marriage, making his personal life central to the story.

He explained that much of the negative feedback appeared to be based on a misinterpretation of the character Ralph in William Golding’s original novel.

On top of everything else, John starts to believe the UK is about to be attacked by a radical group within the Iranian government.

Similar to the original novel, this series – written by Jack Thorne, who also worked on ‘Adolescence’ – tells the story of a group of boys left stranded on a tropical island after their plane crashes. There are no adults with them.
