17 Years Ago Today, Keanu Reeves Remade a Sci-Fi Masterpiece (& It Was a Critical Disaster)

Keanu Reeves has appeared in several remakes and reboots of older films, like The Lake House and Knock Knock. However, these haven’t been very successful. His 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still followed the same pattern, earning a low 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite having the potential to be a great science fiction film, it didn’t live up to the original 1951 version directed by Robert Wise.
