Even though there are a lot of visually stylish action-adventure games like Metroidvania out there, Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse seems to offer a fresh take that could make it special.
This roguelite action platformer, created by Frontside 180 and published by Pocketpair, draws inspiration from the look and feel of Hollow Knight: Silksong while taking its gameplay from Super Mario Odyssey.
Here’s the latest trailer to give you the gist:
You control a little witch with a magical, but troublesome, hat. You can move and battle like usual, but sometimes you’ll need to use the hat to take control of your enemies.

You can switch control to different enemies, using their special moves and skills to get around obstacles and defeat other opponents.
This game combines the exploration of a Metroidvania with the replayability of a roguelite. That means levels are different each time you play, changing with every attempt.
As you play, you collect materials to rebuild and improve your home village, becoming more powerful with each try so you can progress further.
The game’s art style is reminiscent of Hollow Knight, featuring a hand-drawn aesthetic and a slightly desaturated color palette. It looks very well-executed.
You can also team up with up to three friends online and play the entire game together.
It looks great, and thankfully, the release date isn’t far away – it will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 5th, 2026.
