Despite not getting much attention, it’s a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Director Haaga creates a chaotic but strangely organized world, making it feel like a modern update to the gritty, energetic grindhouse films of the 1970s. It’s a fast, intense, and very violent experience, but it also manages to be funny. Matthew Gray Gubler gives a captivating performance, showing a completely different side of himself than fans of Criminal Minds might expect. Plus, it’s a faithful adaptation that readers of the original novel will likely appreciate.
