The last decade has been a golden age for television, with shows like Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, Atlanta, and Better Call Saul becoming massive cultural hits. Now, one of the most popular shows from that era has returned with a brand-new spinoff, debuting recently on Paramount+ after concluding its successful five-season run over a year ago.
Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone was a massive hit, captivating audiences and achieving incredible ratings. The show, which starred Kevin Costner as rancher John Dutton, spawned a successful universe of related series. Now, fans can revisit that world with The Madison, a new spinoff available on Paramount+. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, the neo-Western series premiered with its first three episodes on March 14th, and the remaining three episodes will be released on March 21st.
Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison Is a More Emotional and Intimate Yellowstone Counterpart
If you enjoy the world of Yellowstone and its related shows, The Madison is worth checking out. Created by Taylor Sheridan and directed by a director from Yellowstone Season 5, it shares the same dramatic, Montana setting and focuses on family conflicts. However, The Madison is less about intense action and more about character development – Sheridan calls it his most personal project yet. It’s not a prequel or sequel to the Dutton family’s story, but a separate, modern-day tale with a quieter, more character-focused approach.
The new series, The Madison, follows the Clyburn family as they leave New York City for a fresh start in the Montana wilderness after experiencing a devastating loss. Like Yellowstone, it’s a powerfully emotional show, but it focuses more closely on the characters and their personal journeys of healing and change. While it’s too early to know if it will be as popular as Yellowstone, Men’s Journal praised it, saying it’s more impactful than many of Taylor Sheridan’s other works and warning viewers that the first episode is full of surprises and best watched without knowing what to expect.
Will There Be a The Madison Season 2?
You’ll be able to continue following the Clyburn family’s story beyond the first season. Paramount+ renewed The Madison for a second season back in August, ensuring the show will continue. Season 2 has already been filmed, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
