Paramount+’s Top 10 TV Shows Confirm the Harshest Reality for Subscribers

Paramount+ recently shared its streaming numbers, and they reveal a surprising trend. As of March 23, 2026, the top 10 shows were: 1. The Madison, 2. South Park, 3. Y: Marshals, 4. Yellowstone, 5. De Férias com o Ex: América Latina, 6. Tulsa King, 7. Acapulco Shore, 8. SpongeBob SquarePants, 9. Landman, and 10. The King of Queens. Take a close look – the ranking seems a bit unusual, and there’s a clear reason why.

Once you take a look, it’s immediately obvious that Paramount is struggling with how it creates and delivers TV shows and streaming content.

Taylor Sheridan Is Dominating Paramount’s TV/Streaming Content

It’s incredible – five of the ten most popular shows on Paramount+ are from Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone. He started with that hugely successful Western crime drama—a show that really set the standard for modern series—and has now built an entire Yellowstone world. This includes several spin-offs, like the new Y: Marshals (currently #3), which is the first to take place after the events of Yellowstone. The original Yellowstone is still a big hit, drawing in lots of viewers on both Paramount+ and CBS.

Paramount is giving Taylor Sheridan a lot of creative freedom beyond the Yellowstone world. He recently launched The Madison, a neo-Western with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, which quickly became a huge success, reaching the number one spot. He also teamed up with Sylvester Stallone for the mob-comedy Tulsa King and created Landman, a drama about the Texas oil industry, which consistently trends with viewers. Beyond these shows, Sheridan has other series – like the action drama Lioness starring Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman, and the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923 – that frequently appear on Paramount+’s most-watched lists when new seasons premiere.

Taylor Sheridan Is Key to Paramount At A Turbulent Time

Taylor Sheridan is essentially the driving force behind Paramount+’s television content right now. This is understandable considering Paramount (then ViacomCBS) signed him to a massive, five-year contract extension in 2021. This agreement ensures his shows will remain on Paramount+ through 2028, after which he’ll begin a new five-year deal with NBCUniversal.

Paramount faces a challenging deadline to fully benefit from its partnership with Taylor Sheridan, especially now that streaming services are so reliant on his shows. The recent acquisition of Paramount by Skydance Media, led by David Ellison, and his successful bid for Warner Bros., are set to significantly reshape the entertainment landscape. However, Sheridan’s move to NBCUniversal is raising concerns among some industry experts, who interpret it as a sign he’s hesitant to work with Paramount’s new leadership.

As a big fan of shows like those from Taylor Sheridan, I’m thinking Paramount+ has about two years to figure out how to keep the quality coming after he’s gone. Sure, getting Warner Bros. TV and HBO gives them a ton of content, but simply adding that to what they already have isn’t going to cut it. Honestly, they need about five more creative forces like Sheridan, churning out consistently great shows, and they need to start developing those shows now if they want to stay competitive.
