Patrick Mahomes’ Shoutout to Taylor Swift Is a Total Touchdown

Life on the field has been magic, madness, heaven, sin for Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently shared what he loves most about playing for the team, and his response is sure to delight Taylor Swift’s fans.

Patrick Mahomes said he’d love to play at Arrowhead Stadium with all the Chiefs fans there, calling it “a lot of fun.” He shared this while speaking at a Kansas City event called Lead to Read KC on April 2nd, as seen in a clip posted to X.

Then he remembered his teammate and close friend, Travis Kelce, and his relationship, and added, “I also got to meet Taylor Swift, which was really neat.”

Patrick didn’t just meet the Grammy winner; he and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, have become good friends with her. They even got to hear her new album, Life of a Showgirl, before it was released to the public.

Patrick explained at a press conference in August that after Taylor announced the album on Travis’ podcast, New Heights, he didn’t receive a direct call. Instead, they called his wife, Brittany, and he was only able to listen in on the FaceTime call from the background.

The quarterback has a close friendship with the singer, Taylor Swift – they were even seen on a double date at the U.S. Open in 2024 – and he shared his excitement about listening to her new album, TS12.

He added that he was really excited. Getting a glimpse into Taylor’s album-making process, and seeing how much effort she puts in, made him think it would be incredible.

Even though Patrick—father to Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden, 14 months, with Brittany—is now enjoying an incredible friendship with Taylor Swift, he initially doubted Travis Kelce’s sincerity when he first claimed to be dating her.

He said on the ESPN docuseries The Kingdom in August that someone told him during the week, and he needed to see proof before he’d believe it.

But after Taylor Swift went to her first Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium in September, Patrick Mahomes knew for sure.

He added that you could really feel the excitement, and people in the stadium were clearly drawn to where she was performing.
