If you’re playing Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5, you may have faced a difficult decision: play with players on PCs, or turn that option off and end up playing against computer-controlled opponents (bots) instead.
That’s the dilemma some players are currently feeling frustrated by on the PS5 Reddit.
User youlikebaileys points out that enabling crossplay presents a difficult situation – either way you go, there are likely to be problems.
Since Battlefield 6 launched, it’s been really difficult to find a match on PS5 without encountering bots, especially if you disable crossplay with PC players on European servers.
They argue that allowing crossplay puts console players at a disadvantage because they’ll be competing against PC players who have the advantage of using a mouse and keyboard, which offers more precise control.
However, if you turn the feature off, you’ll either get no matches at all, or matches against bots that aren’t challenging opponents.
You might encounter this issue even if you’re only playing on PS5 because crossplay is turned on by default. This means most players don’t bother changing the setting, so you’ll often be matched with players on other platforms.
I understand Battlefield 6 is aiming for a more relaxed experience, but it’s frustrating to compete against players with better equipment. I think the game should prioritize console-only crossplay (between PlayStation 5 and Xbox) by default. Players using a mouse and keyboard on consoles, or those who want to play with PC friends, could then be matched with PC players in a separate, broader crossplay pool.
The post sparked a lot of conversation, with people debating whether controller aim assist already levels the playing field. Some also believe adding a separate crossplay setting for consoles would keep the player base large while avoiding competition with those using mouse and keyboard.
Of course, there are those that simply don’t care, and are happy to play the game as is.
